Founder & Tour Guide

I founded Ye Olde Tavern Tours in 2013 because I'm passionate about Boston's history and drinking beer. I was eager to give people what I want when I visit a new place or when I explore the city I call home—a mix of learning history and having fun! I received my PhD in American History from Boston College, where I studied Boston during the American Revolution.

I am the author of King Hancock: The Radical Influence of a Moderate Founding Father, which won the New England Historical Association 2024 James P. Hanlan Book Award and the New England Society 2024 Nonfiction Book Award, and Boston in the American Revolution: A Town Versus an Empire. You can subscribe to my free quarterly newsletter here.

My favorite site on the Freedom Trail is the Old State House and I'm currently loving Jack's Abby Shipping Out of Boston Amber Lager. Huzzah!

Growing up in nearby Malden, Massachusetts, I have always felt deeply connected to Boston’s history. I received my Bachelor's degree in History from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia before becoming the head tour guide at the Massachusetts State House, where I worked for three years. I received my Master's degree in Education from Harvard University and I work as a longshoreman at the Port of Boston.

My favorite stop on the Freedom Trail is the Massachusetts State House and my favorite local beer is Whalers Rise APA.

Tour Guide

I grew up 5 miles north of Boston in Chelsea, Massachusetts and grew up loving Boston and its rich history. I attended Hamilton College and received my Bachelor's degree in Women and Gender Studies. I currently work at Boston University supporting graduate students and am working towards my MBA with a concentration on Social Impact. When I’m not at work or hitting the books, you can find me browsing my favorite local bookstores and grabbing a beer with friends!

My favorite stop on the Freedom Trail is King’s Chapel and King’s Chapel Burying Ground and my favorite local beer is Mighty Squirrel’s Cloud Candy IPA.

Tour Guide

I'm a Boston native--born and raised--and am proud to call the city home. I attended Boston Latin School (where John Hancock also went to school!) and then received my Bachelor's degree in History from Boston University. I'm currently a history teacher with Boston Public Schools and am working towards my Master's degree in Education. Outside of school, you can find me at local taverns, old and new.

My favorite stop on the Freedom Trail is the site of the Boston Latin School (go Wolfpack!) and my favorite local beer is Fiddlehead IPA.

Tour Guide

Originally from the Baltimore area, another colonial port city, I’ve loved history since childhood. I earned my BA in History from the University of Scranton on an ROTC scholarship, then served four years as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army. Afterward, I completed a Master’s degree in History at Boston College and am currently pursuing a second Master's at Tufts University in International Affairs.

My favorite Freedom Trail stop is the Old State House and my favorite local beer is the Von Trapp Pilsner.
